Toledo Santa Inducted into International Santa Claus Hall of Fame
Toledo, Ohio - December 21, 2021
Toledo Santa LLC announced that owner Tom Pellitieri has been inducted into the International Santa Claus Hall of Fame.
Located in Santa Claus, Indiana, the International Santa Claus Hall of Fame is the home of the celebration and study of famous Santa Clauses and Mrs. Clauses of the past and present. This ongoing project is meant to preserve the historical documentation of the many men and women who have greatly contributed to the Legend of Santa Claus.
Nominees were evaluated on eight criteria: overall career, range of appearances, length of service, uniqueness of career, charity, originality, contribution to the Santa world, and service to their community.
"I am very humbled and honored to be included with the men and women who have previously been recognized for their contributions to the Santa world", said Mr. Pellitieri. "I was very surprised to be notified of this honor, and pray that I can live up to the standards that others have already set."
Mr. Pellitieri is one of nine individuals inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021, and is the first living member from Ohio. They join the 85 other individuals who have been inducted since the Hall of Fame was established in 2010.
Mr. Pellitieri had his first appearances at a Breakfast with Santa event in the Ben Franklin Variety Store in his home town of Tonawanda, NY, before graduating from Tonawanda High School in 1979. A 1983 graduate of the University of Buffalo, he made his first major appearances at the Boulevard Mall in Amherst, NY. After a brief time in Pittsburgh, PA, he joined his wife, Su, in Toledo in 1993.
He continued to visit primarily for friends and co-workers until he founded Toledo Santa LLC in 2005. He has been Santa for the annual 13ABC / WTVG Hope for the Holidays Drive Through Toy Drive since it began in 2011. He has appeared in the Toledo Blade Holiday Parade and at the City of Toledo Tree Lighting at the Ottawa Park Ice Rink since 2019.
