TPS Local History Lecture Series
Toledo Public Schools is kicking off our free local history lectures series on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at Scott High School. Join us as we share the untold stories of TPS over the last 173 years and display rare TPS artifacts including the first yearbook.
Did you know……. that J. Lee Richmond, the athlete to throw the first perfect game in baseball, was also the first orchestra director at old Toledo High School? Or that the 1989 Woodward Homecoming Queen, Tamara Browder, accepted her award in her football uniform since she was the placekicker for the boys team? Or that Julius Lamson, of the famed Toledo department store served, on the TPS school board alongside Pauline Steinem, who was the first female elected to any position in the City of Toledo?
Parking is available in the lot behind the school and students will direct you to the auditorium upon arrival. Masks are required. The History of Toledo Public Schools, A Chance for Every Child book will also be available for $10, with all proceeds going to the application of an Ohio Historical Marker for Scott High School.
