TPS Local History Lecture Series

Posted: Thursday, February 10, 2022 by: Robyn Hage | Category: Featured

TPS is excited to announce our next local history lecture will be March 3, 2022 at 7:00 PM at Waite High School.  Our topic is "Toledo's War: How The Glass City Shaped - And Was Shaped By - The Second World War,”  by Joe Boyle.

In nearly every major battle of World War II - both foreign and domestic - Toledoans were there. From Shanghai to Gleiwitz, Pearl Harbor to Tokyo Bay, and in the battles at home over the changing role of women and race relations in a diversifying place, Toledo's story in the 1930s and 1940s tells a larger story about America at a turning point in history. Joe Boyle's "Toledo's War," coming this summer from the University of Toledo Press, tells the stories of how Toledoans shaped the course of the Second World War, and how the war changed them - and their hometown.

All lectures are free and open to the public with plenty of parking at Waite High School. Masks are required. TPS will be streaming the event and a link will be posted soon the on the tps.org home page.
