St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Celebrates with Bilingual Mass
St. Patrick of Heatherdowns will hold a bilingual, spanish-speaking Mass on Sunday, March 20 at 11:30 a.m.
Here at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns, we hold ourselves accountable to truly live our slogan: "A Place to Belong". As part of our efforts, we hold a Spanish Bilingual mass quarterly. Spanish is one of the most spoken languages in the Catholic Church, so we honor the language and the people who speak it in our bilingual masses. All readings and songs are in both English and Spanish, we have bilingual lectors proclaim the readings in Spanish with English on our screens, and songs are both in Spanish and English. These bilingual masses are truly for all because even if one does not speak Spanish, the English subtitles help one follow along, and be able to hear the beauty of the Spanish language. It is also a great time to bring people of all nationalities together as we praise our Lord and Savior as one community.
The kickstart to our bilingual mass was National Hispanic Heritage Month in 2021 when we held our first bilingual mass, food trucks, and Folklorico dancers. It was such a great celebration and the support from the community was amazing. This event showed St. Patrick's that the Spanish-speaking people in our community felt at home, so it led us to start quarterly bilingual masses. The Bilingual Mass Team at St. Patrick's is also planning an event in the summer to feature local music, food, and more.
All are welcome to these masses as we support not only our Spanish-speaking community members but all as get to celebrate mass in two languages. Please come and join us at our next bilingual mass on Sunday, March 20th at 11:30 am. ¡Que Dios te bendig
