St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Educator Wins Prestigious Excellence Award
St. Patrick of Heatherdowns is proud to announce that Mrs, Brenda Rayfield, the school’s English Language Arts and Reading Teacher, has been named a Golden Apple Award Winner by The Diocese of Toledo. The Golden Apple Award is given for excellence in education to only 9 teachers in the Diocese each year.
Mrs. Rayfield said, “thank you for the nomination and the honor and the best part of the award is being able to teach the kids at St. Pats. They are great kids who love to learn and have new opportunities.”
School Principal, Mrs.Tina Abel, said, “ We are so excited for Mrs. Rayfield. Her dedication to the students of St. Pat's is visible. She coaches Cross Country and is the director of our annual Musical.St. Pat's is truly blessed to have Mrs. Rayfield as part of our family educating students and being a role model for all.
Mrs. Rayfield has been at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns School for 11 years, teaching reading & English language arts and coaching cross country and track. She has helped with the school musical for several years and took over directing with Into the Woods in 2020. Previously she taught English and directed the school theatrical productions at St. Joseph Central Catholic for 11 years. She is married to Grant (also a teacher) Mom to Zoey (freshman at Central Catholic) and Leo (4th grader at SPH). In her limited spare time, she enjoys reading, running, coaching & watching her kids' sports & activities, going on family adventures, and singing show tunes and watching theater. At school, she loves seeing students challenge themselves as readers and writers.
