Go Tyme Grynd to launch a new gym and host Free Summer Youth Fitness Program to address Toledo’s Crime Rate
New fitness training business gym founded by previously incarcerated fitness trainer will institute change
Toledo, OH. (June 7, 2022) Go Tyme Grynd, who aims to bring revolutionary fitness training services and coaching to marginalized communities, announced their Summer Youth Fitness Program that will take place Tuesday and Thursdays starting June 14 through July 26, 2022, from 12p.m. to 2:30p.m.
As part of the city of Toledo’s efforts to curve violence, the Summer Youth Fitness Program will offer children aged 12 to 17 a combination of fitness and nutrition education, supplemented by group activities held at Jaimie Farr Park.
“At 18 years old, I was sentenced to 16 years in prison,” said DeAndre Gaston, Founder of Go Tyme Grynd and ISSA Certified Elite Trainer. “My story was supposed to end within those prison walls. Instead, I decided it was go time. I fought every day to strengthen my body and rose from the ashes. Nothing is too far gone to be redeemed. This is what Toledo’s youth needs.”
The free program is administering online and onsite registration that requires an informed consent waiver to be signed by a parent or guardian. With plans of being a permanent staple in the community, Go Tyme Grynd is prepared to pivot the trajectory of Toledo’s youth.
Gaston is also launching the Grynd House Gym in the heart of the inner-city July 2022. It is the first fitness facility of its kind offered on the westside of Toledo at 3403 Monroe Street amidst its high crime rates.
He will be applying the knowledge and skills he gained while achieving his business degree to infuse the inner-city culture with fitness and health.
