Wednesday at Woodlands Lunchtime Concert Series Concludes with OMG (Old Misfits with Guitars)
The Wednesday at Woodlands lunchtime concert series will conclude the 2022 season with a final concert Wednesday, August 31 at 12:00 noon. Concerts take place in the shelter area of Woodlands Park. Picnic tables are available inside and outside the shelter area.
The weekly series will end on a high note with music by the 10-member Perrysburg based OMG (Old Misfits with Guitars) band.
OMG (Old Misfits with Guitars) is a group of like-minded musicians who met 3 years ago at the Perrysburg Senior Center while taking part in the weekly open music jam sessions. OMG leader Marvin Scheer tells the amusing story of the band forming, “The music jam at the Perrysburg Senior Center was growing too large. Some of us were asked to leave for playing too loud. Fortunately, the Senior Center manager, Jessi Chapman was kind enough to reserve Schaller Hall once a week for us to play music. We loved playing music together so much that after the pandemic hit in March 2020, we continued to play together on Zoom. When the weather became warmer, we continued to meet twice a week and play in a park, yard or garage.
The band plays a wide variety of music ranging from the 1950’s to the 70’s that includes pop, rock, country, R&B, and folk. Their performance for Wednesday at Woodlands will be in their jam format which allows all the members to take turns being the lead singer. Mr. Scheer says this format will keep the audience wondering what will come next.
Members of OMG include Janet Church (percussion), Don Buckenmeyer (guitar), Marvin Scheer (guitar, bass), Larry Batoki (guitar), Kathe Merrit (guitar}, Max Church (guitar, bass), Annette Drouliard (guitar), Leo Cichy (trumpet), Karen Herzberg (guitar, banjolele) and Dave Pederson (keyboard).
The Wednesday at Woodlands Concert series has been possible with funding from The City of Perrysburg, and The Norma Stark Memory Garden and Labyrinth.
