Perrysburg Chorale presents John Rutter's Reqiuem
Perrysburg Chorale Offers Two Perfomances of Requiem by John Rutter.
Perrysburg Chorale and Owens Voices of Owens Community College, Dennis Blubaugh, Director and Jeff Bunke, accompanist, will offer two performances of Requiem by John Rutter:
October 28, 7:30 PM Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Owens Community College
November 6, 3 PM at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 871 East Boundary St., Perrysburg OH
John Rutter’s most loved choral work was written in memory of his father in 1985. Rutter says this about the work: “For me it stands as a clear sign of humanity's quest for solace and light amidst the darkness and troubles of our age. Art, Andre Gide said, must bear a message of hope – a message which is embedded in the age-old texts of the Requiem Mass, and also in the Burial Service, some of which I have interpolated into the structure of the work, using the incomparably resonant and glorious version from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer."
