TOLEDO - Every year during the brutal winters Toledo local resident Brad McClure jumps in his 2007 Ram 2500 and plows area Veterans’ properties for FREE as a way to give back to those who have served our country.
With the cool weather approaching Mr McClure was getting his truck ready to drop his plow and push some snow. Problem is he has dropped his plow for another reason. On November 4, 2022 Mr McClure was driving down airport hwy where he was hit head on by another vehicle driving down the wrong lane. The accident which was caught on his dash cam shows the other driver driving down the road the wrong way. The young man who hit Mr McClure had no insurance and was driving under a suspended license, Mr McClure was fully covered.
The accident ultimately totaled the vehicle, doing approximately $14,000 damage to the plow truck leaving the vehicle undrivable, hindering his ability to plow any upcoming snow this winter. The local area can have snow squalls that can pile up inches if not feet of heavy snow in no time. When the snow does pile up many look to help in regards to snow removal as the snow episodes can prove to be problematic to those with the inability to remove the heavy snow due to physical limitations due to old age and more. Every year Mr McClure helps several veterans who are unable to remove the heavy snow at no charge. This year is now in question.
Mr. McClure mentions, “When I see those in need I feel obligated to help them any way I physically can. “Some of these people in my neighborhood are unable to remove the heavy snow due to old age. If I do not step up to help them then who will? How would they go to the store for food if they are stranded? It is a neighborly thing to do.”
