Join Dr. Matthew Donahue from the Department of Popular Culture for a conversation with world renowned drummer, solo artist and producer Keith LeBlanc on Wednesday, April 5 at 7:00 PM at Jerome Library's Pallister Conference Room (1st floor). This talk is free and open to all.
Keith LeBlanc is the world’s first Hip-Hop drummer, when Keith LeBlanc got his gig at Sugarhill Records in 1979 there was no such thing as a Hip-Hop drummer. His beats are some of the most copied in the world. He is more than just a session drummer, he is an accomplished solo artist and producer playing on some of the most influential sound recordings in Hip-Hop with the Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaataa and others. His writing, drumming and production skills have attracted the likes of Living Colour, Peter Gabriel, The Cure, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Seal, Tina Turner, Annie Lennox, and many more. Keith LeBlanc will be discussing his life in music.
