American Roots choral concert performed by Lenawee Community Chorus on Saturday, April 22, 2023
Lenawee Community Chorus would like to invite you to an uplifting musical experience as members present our spring concert, “American Roots,” on Saturday, April 22, 2023, 4:00 p.m. at Herrick Chapel on the Adrian College campus in Adrian, Michigan. This is the 55th season of LCC, a chorus made up of local citizens, presenting beautiful choral music for our community.
Director Joshua Van Campen has selected a variety of choral arrangements representing the roots of America's people. The audience will tap their feet to traditional folk songs such as "Cindy" and a rousing version of "The Promised Land." Connect with the American immigrant experience through a lovely Irish lament, "Shule Aroon," and a Hebrew folk song, "Hine Ma Tov." The chorus will sing a number of beloved African-American spirituals and the famous "Battle Hymn of the Republic." A special blessing will be experienced with the beautiful arrangement of “Like a River in My Soul,” which many will recognize as a favorite hymn, “Peace Like a River.”
