YWCA Chalk The Walk In Support of Sexual Assault Awareness and Denim Day
The YWCA of Northwest Ohio to Host "Chalk the Walk" Event in Honor of Denim Day for Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Northwest Ohio, USA - The YWCA of Northwest Ohio is proud to announce its upcoming "Chalk the Walk" event in honor of Denim Day for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The event will take place on April 26, 2023, from 5pm to 7pm at the YWCA headquarters located at 1018 Jefferson Avenue in Toledo, Ohio.
Denim Day is a day when people all over the world come together to raise awareness about sexual assault and to show support for survivors. The event takes its name from a case in Italy where a woman's rape conviction was overturned because the judge ruled that she must have consented to sex because she was wearing tight jeans. The ruling sparked outrage and led to a global movement to combat victim-blaming and promote consent.
"Chalk the Walk" is an event where participants use chalk to create art and messages of hope and support on the sidewalks surrounding the YWCA. The event is open to the public, and everyone is invited to come and show their support for survivors of sexual assault. The YWCA will provide chalk, but participants are welcome to bring their own as well.
"We are excited to host this event in honor of Denim Day," said CEO of the YWCA of Northwest Ohio, Lisa McDuffie. "Sexual assault is a serious issue that affects far too many people, and we believe it's essential to raise awareness about it and support survivors in our community. We invite everyone to come out and join us for this important event."
In addition to the chalk art, the YWCA will provide information about sexual assault and resources for survivors. The YWCA will offer free refreshments and snacks as well.
