Black Swamp Conservancy to Host Annual So Wild A Place Fundraising Event
Toledo, OH — Local nature lovers and conservation advocates will dine, dance and bid at Black Swamp Conservancy’s annual So Wild a Place fundraiser, presented by KeyBank - National Association Trustee for the Walter E. Terhune Memorial Fund.
The backyard party event will kick off at 5:30pm on June 10, 2023 at the West Side Montessori campus in Toledo. Guests will groove to the saloon jazz, country swing and early rockabilly stylings of Nashville-based musical guest, Miss Tess, and her four-piece band. Jimmy G’s will serve up the ultimate barbeque experience, including options for vegan and vegetarian diners. And the open bar will feature wine and local beer selections.
A highlight of the evening will be the live auction, emceed by the inimitable Michael Seay. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on exclusive outings to Conservancy-protected properties, private flying lessons, outdoor adventure packages, and more.
Early-bird tickets are available for $75 through June 1st and can be purchased online at blackswamp.org/SWAP2023.
While the atmosphere for the event is fun and casual, the Conservancy’s mission is a serious one. Funds raised will help support the organization’s efforts to preserve and enhance natural habitats and family farms in northwest Ohio for the benefit of current and future generations.
The Conservancy protects more than 175 properties spanning more than 21,500 acres across the region, including some of the community’s finest natural habitats and family farms. Recent major habitat restoration projects have improved over 700 acres of land and revitalized more than two miles of streams. In just the past three years, the team has planted more than 60,000 trees.
But this is a fraction of what’s possible when it comes to protecting this region’s precious natural heritage. “The power of collective action is key to conservation work,” said Rob Krain, the Conservancy’s executive director.
Krain and his team hope that this event will “serve as a rallying call” to those who share their commitment to safeguarding the unique, diverse ecosystems in northwest Ohio and want to support the organization’s mission.
