Toledo Hemp Center Hosts Community Cookout for Kids: An Initiative to Combat Childhood Hunger

Toledo, OH - August 13, 2023 -- Toledo Hemp Center is proud to announce its Annual Community Cookout for Kids. An initiative designed to raise awareness of the pressing issue of childhood hunger that affects 1 in 7 children in Ohio. On August 13, from noon until 4pm, the Toledo Hemp Center parking lot, nestled inside the Miracle Mile Shopping Center at 4925 Jackman Rd, will transform into a hub of joy, food, and entertainment, all for a noble cause.

The event will feature a cafeteria-style cookout, absolutely free for all attendees. With a menu of 300 hamburgers, 300 hot dogs, a variety of sides, and a spread of refreshing drinks, the cookout aims to be a beacon for the children of Toledo. Park Terrace Nursing and Rehab will be contributing to the sweet side of things with an extensive dessert table.

For those looking for some local flavor, Polish Ostrich will offer their Toledo-favorite pierogis. Charsaac Chip Company, a beloved local homemade chip company, will serve their famous homemade potato chips. Downtown Toledo's Grill Table 44 will also be present to provide finger foods. Sparky's, a local ice cream shop, will showcase their new pizza recipe with pizza slices up for grabs.

The day will not only be about food. It will also be a day of entertainment and music with DJ Likwid providing the soundtrack for the day's festivities.

As part of the event's aim to support local children, over 200 backpacks filled with essential school supplies will be handed out to children upon arrival while supplies last.

Several informational tables will also be set up by Lucas County Pit Crew, Crunch Fitness, Supreme Nutrition, Just Drive with Jess, Ur Village Nutrition Studio, and 419 Cares.

"We believe in giving back to our community, and what better way to do this than by addressing the issue of childhood hunger," said Kevin Spitler, Co-Owner of Toledo Hemp Center. "Through this cookout, we aim to not only feed our local children but also educate our community about the importance of addressing this problem."

This event is made possible by the generous support of our sponsors, including Hammer's Grill, Daffy's Bar and Grill, 5 Pints Bar and Grill, Just Drive with Jess, Dine In Delivery, Polish Ostrich, Charsaac Chips, Kween of Hearts Slots and Fish Tables, Frobose Meat Locker, and Backstage Eats and Drinks.

The Toledo Hemp Center Community Cookout is open to all, rain or shine. Look for the two large tents. Let's come together as a community to address childhood hunger, one hot dog, and hamburger at a time.
