Wednesday at Woodlands continues Wednesday, August 23 at 12:00 noon with The Ellie Martin Duo.  The lunchtime concerts take place in the Woodlands Park shelter area, 429 E. Boundary Street.  Bring a chair or a packed lunch and sit at one of the many picnic tables in and around the shelter area in both the sun and shade.

As individual artists, Ellie Martin and Chris Buzzelli bring a wealth of experience to their Wednesday at Woodlands concert collaboration.

In the tapestry of modern jazz certain artists stand out for their remarkable skill and musicality but also for the stories they tell through their artistry. Ellie Martin is a jazz vocalist, singer-songwriter, and PhD holder in jazz studies, whose music resonates with a profound depth of emotion and fearless spirit of improvisation.  With a repertoire spanning across genres, cultures, and personal experiences, Ellie Martin has established herself as a jazz luminary.

Accompanying Ellie Martin is guitarist Chris Buzzelli whose impact on the world of jazz extends far beyond his exceptional guitar skills.  During his tenure at Bowling Green State University, as the Professor of Guitar and Jazz Studies, (1984 to 2015) he served as a beacon of knowledge and inspiration.  His role extended beyond the classroom as he directed the Vocal Jazz Ensemble, fostering the growth of young voices into skilled jazz performers.  Buzzelli’s lengthy list of educational contributions reverberates through the notes of his impressive recordings and the lives he’s touched.

What sets the duo apart is the way Martin’s evocative voice melds with Buzzelli’s intricate guitar melodies.  With Ellie Martin's diverse repertoire and Chris Buzzelli’s proficiency in interpreting different musical styles, their performances are a testament to their versatility and musical understanding.

This concert series is made possible with the support of the City of Perrysburg and the Norma (Swaisgood) Stark Memory Garden and Labyrinth Foundation.
