Wednesday at Woodlands Concert Series Concludes the Season with OMG Band

The Wednesday at Woodlands lunchtime concert series season will come to a close Wednesday, September 6,  at 12:00 noon with the band OMG. The lunchtime concerts take place in the Woodlands Park shelter area, 429 E. Boundary Street.  Bring a chair or a packed lunch and sit at one of the many picnic tables in and around the shelter area in both the sun and shade. .

OMG is an acronym for Old Musicians with Guitars.  The irony of the name unfolded as a cohort of like-minded musicians playing in the weekly Perrysburg Senior Center music jam sessions were asked to leave for being too loud.  The group of ousted musicians self-dubbed 'OMG' began their musical rendezvous.  In a new setting at the Schaller building OMG led by Marvin Sheer ignited.  The group has been together for four years playing twice weekly with the goal of being supportive of one another with an underlined discipline and aspirations to grow musically into a fine-tuned ensemble ready for public performances.  During Covid they practiced together by ZOOM.  As the weather warmed and the threat of the pandemic waned the group began meeting outside at the park, in a backyard or garage.  Their perseverance, discipline,  and good will towards one another reminds us that music, like age, is a continuum-and the resonance of passion knows no temporal bounds.

Members include Marvin Scheer, playing guitar and bass; Janet Church, percussionist; Patrick Wcislek, on saxophone; Fran Moenoch, playing percussion; Max Church playing guitar and bass; Annette Drouillard on guitar; Don Buckenmeyer on guitar; Karen Herzberg playing both guitar and banjolele; Kathe Merrit, on guitar; Dave Pederson on keyboard and Jackie Paulson, vocalist.

OMG will play a variety of music ranging from 1950's to the 1970's that includes pop, rock, R&B and folk.  Their concert will be in jam format which allows all members to take turns being the lead singer.

This series is made possible with the support of The City of Perrysburg and The Norma Stark Memory Garden and Labyrinth.
