Behind the Scenes of the Clean Energy Revolution: Free Screening at Imagination Station
(TOLEDO, OHIO, Oct. 2023) - Toledoans can get a behind the scenes look at the activists leading the clean energy revolution during a free showing of “How to Power a City” at Imagination Station on Thursday, Nov. 2.
The showing is the latest Community Film and Conversation at Imagination Station and is in partnership with the Northwest Ohio chapter of Climate Reality. The showing features a solutions-based documentary that details the development of clean energy across the United States.
“How to Power A City” gives a front row seat to witness how people are leading grassroots solar and wind projects in their hometowns. The film’s themes are hope, innovation, and love of community — even in the face of destructive climate events or indifferent authorities.
The event will take place from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. in the Imagination Station KeyBank Discovery Theater, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. Reservations can be made online here.
Alicia Smith, Community Engagement Director for Freshwater Future and the Community Liaison for Junction Coalition will lead a panel of local experts in a discussion following the showing of the film.
Greg Breier, Co-Chair of the Northwest Ohio Climate Reality Project, says the goal of the screening is empowering locals to learn more about climate change solutions.
“Our goal is to give people the information they need to take the next steps in saving money while promoting climate-friendly practices through the use of renewable energy for their homes or businesses,” Breier said.
The film reveals how six communities face obstacles from fossil fuel dependence to technical impasses, public ignorance, cost, indifferent leaders, and superstorm disasters. They prevail with solutions that do more than just create electricity.
