BGSU Department of History, Department of Physics and Astronomy, to Present Panel Discussion on History, Astronomy, and Eclipses at Wood County District Public Library
The April 8, 2024, Total Solar Eclipse will stretch across North America, with the path of totality crossing Mexico, the USA, and Canada. Eclipse-watching has a rich cultural and scientific history that stretches back thousands of years to many pre-contact North American cultures and continues to inspire imaginations to the present day.
The 2024 Reddin Symposium: “The Sky Has No Borders: Perspectives on Astronomical Knowledge from Canada, Mexico and the United States” will feature an evening of discussion with scholars from archaeology, astronomy, and the history of science about the many ways people experience the night sky – past and present.

Mr. Colin Bird, Consul General of Canada in Detroit, United States
Dr. Kate Dellenbusch, Lecturer, Bowling Green State University Department of Physics and Astronomy and Director of the BGSU Planetarium
Mr. Frank Dempsey, Royal Astronomical Society of Canada Toronto Centre and Member of Dokis First Nation
