National Blanket Day

Posted: Tuesday, February 6, 2024 by: Billie Szymanski | Category: Community Interest

National Project Linus Blanket Day will be held on Saturday 2/17/24 at Living Faith UM Church. The mission of Project Linus is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade, washable blankets and afghans, lovingly crafted by volunteer blanketeers. Quilts for children in need will be assembled at Living Faith United Methodist Church 1240 Columbus Ave Holland, OH and we would like to invite the community to attend.

Anyone who can learn to tie a square knot is invited to join in the fun anytime between 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. “Community involvement is vital to the success of this event, and it is hoped that as many people as possible will come and help make these quilts”.

Quilt-A-Thon in 2018 – we made over 100 blankets and had 23 volunteers. This year’s goal is to complete 150 blankets and to have 40 volunteers. The Toledo/County Chapter of Project Linus started in 2005 and over 19,000 handmade blankets were delivered to children in our area.  The volunteer organization has now delivered over 9,356,325 handmade blankets to children worldwide since 1995 to learn more about Project Linus email projectlinus.org.
