Maumee Bay Club Women's History Celebration and Founders Day

(Toledo, Ohio) The Maumee Bay Club will host "Women who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion" beginning at 10:00 am, on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Tickets are $65. The event will be held at the beautiful Legacy at Arthur Hills Golf Course in Ottawa Lake Michigan. This year's celebration will include five Women's History awards and up to $3000 in scholarships to local high school seniors. The keynote address will be given by Crystal Harris Darnell, who serves as the Lucas County Board of Commissioners Director of Diversity Equity and Inclusion.

This event is a red-carpet brunch and will include a buffet with delicious items including shrimp and grits. Area women will receive awards in the following areas: Achievement - Katrice Perry, Executive Director of Gateway Youth Development Program; Community Service - Valerie Walston, Special Assistant to the President, Community Engagement at the University of Toledo. The Volunteer awardee is Valerie Thompson, President of the American Advertising Federation of Toledo, among other volunteer roles. This year's Youth awardee is Trinity Nwokolo who is a senior at Toledo Early College High School. This year we also selected a new award, based on our theme. This year the Woman Who Advocates for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion is Malakia Bell, the Director of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the University of Toledo.
