Family and Child Abuse Prevention Center to hold Spring Luncheon Fundraiser - May 23, 2025
The Family and Child Abuse Prevention Center (FCAPC) works to intervene, educate, and prevent family violence in Lucas and Ottawa Counties. In 2024, this non-profit agency marked its 50th year and countless stories of survival, healing, and overcoming obstacles through programs to make every home a safe home, including:
- Children's Advocacy Center, which coordinates investigation and intervention services for child victims of sexual abuse to reduce the trauma and offer therapy and support services to child victims and their families;
- Child Abuse Prevention Program, with resources for preschool and elementary school children to keep themselves safe and to recognize abuse;
- Early Intervention / Help Me Grow, designed to prevent child abuse and neglect of children with developmental delays and coordinate health and developmental services for parents so that children can thrive;
- Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Program, supporting victims through the legal process, assisting with safety planning, and linking to other community resources;
- Batterers Intervention and Prevention Program, which confronts behaviors and attitudes about domestic violence and offers tools to perpetrators to choose non-violent behaviors;
- Long Term Services Program, providing counseling, psychiatric services, and other supportive treatments for clients.
