FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Maumee Glow 5K Rec Race/Walk Set for July 11
MAUMEE—Put on those shoes and get ready to join the new Maumee Glow 5K Rec Race/Walk on July 11, 2025!
“Since this is the 45th year for the Maumee Rec Race, we decided it was time for a change. We’ve made this race/walk into a glow event on Friday night instead of Saturday morning,” said Malinda Ruble, Executive Director of the Maumee Senior Center. “We think this will be a lot of fun.”
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Maumee High School, 1147 Saco St., on a flat and fast course offering runners the chance to get an amazing time.
“And if running isn’t your thing, walkers are welcome also. Walkers can go as little or as far as they would like on the route,” Ruble said.
Registration is just $20 if postmarked or paid online at www.runsignup.com by June 27. Those registered by June 27 will receive a shirt. The registration fee increases to $25 after June 27 and a shirt is not guaranteed. Race Day registration is $25 and will open at 5:30 p.m. on July 11, 2025.
Online registration is available at www.runsignup.com and a service fee applies. Also, participants can reach out to the Maumee Senior Center by calling 419-893-1994 or email [email protected] for a mail-in registration form.
Awards will be given to runners both Male/Female Overall, Master (40+) and Grand Masters (50+) in the race. Every participant in the race or walk receives a free Chick-fil-A coupon, while supplies last.
In addition, there will be a Most Illuminated Contest before the award ceremony. The top three places will receive a prize.
“This is a great opportunity for the Maumee Senior Center to do something fun for the community and at the same time the proceeds benefit programs and services for our seniors,” Ruble said. “It’s an inexpensive way to help seniors, get exercise and have fun all at the same time.”
Every dollar of the proceeds goes to support the Maumee Senior Center's programs and services for seniors.
If you would like to volunteer for the event or need additional information, call the Maumee Senior Center at 419-893-1994.
The Maumee Senior Center is a registered 501(c)3 organization which provides services and programs for people 60 years of age and older.
