Local playwrite Cindy Below presents her debut musical "Backwards in Heels" at the Maumee Indoor theater on August 23, 2025.
Four diverse women (Barb, Jean, Marie, and Rita) meet by invitation at a local university to discuss issues relevant to mature women. Soon upon their arrival, the group facilitator sends a text stating that she is running late. She encourages them to introduce themselves as the women have not met before. As they address the topics in a questionnaire (received prior to the meeting) the women soon realize the similarities in their lives. Through encouragement, a bit of confrontation and song, each realize they found solidarity and courage in sharing with other "Women of a Certain Age".
Backwards in Heels is written, directed, and produced by Cindy Below and Gabrielle Southwell serves as Assistant Director. Lucas Madrazo is the Musical Director. The cast of Backwards in Heels features local talents: Sheila Brown, Carla Rahrig, Tracy Armentrout, Nichole Robinson, Melissa Shaffer, and Alta Diehl.
Performance of Backwards in Heels will take place at The Maumee Indoor Theater at 601 Conant Street, on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Showtime is at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.
