Wednesday at the Woodlands Presents EZ PickenZ
The Wednesday at Woodlands concert series continues on Wednesday, August 13, with a live performance by EZ Pickenz from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. in the Woodlands Park shelter area, 429 E. Boundary Street, Perrysburg. Guests are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket, as picnic tables fill quickly.
Blending elements of folk, rock, blues, and country, EZ Pickenz has been delivering their distinct sound to regional audiences since 2016. The band began as a duo featuring Mark Elder and Matt Meeker, who met at an arts and crafts show in 2015 and quickly formed a musical connection. Their collaboration soon evolved into local performances throughout the Lake Erie West region, gaining a loyal following for their rich harmonies and diverse setlists.
In July 2021, after performing at the very same Wednesday at Woodlands series, Lyle Diefenthaler approached the duo and offered to add percussion. With one rehearsal under their belt, the newly-formed trio quickly established a signature sound that featured three-part harmonies and a fuller rhythmic foundation.
The lineup expanded again in 2024 when Derrick Hudson joined the group after a chance meeting at Small Box Music in Maumee, following the band’s debut at Acoustics for Autism. His addition of mandolin and guitar brought a new layer of depth and energy to the band’s performances.
Today, the band members include band leader, Mark Elder playing bass and electric guitar, Matt Meeker on acoustic and electric guitar, Lyle Diefenthaler on Cajon and hand percussion, and Derrick Hudson on guitar and mandolin.
Their concerts offer a rich mix of favorites from The Moody Blues, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Jim Croce, Van Morrison, The Grateful Dead, The Eagles, and more, along with a few original songs from their 2023 debut album EZ Pickenz, which they released to a nearly sold-out crowd at the Listening Loft above Levi & Lilac’s in Maumee.
The Wednesday at Woodlands concert series is made possible through the support of the City of Perrysburg and the Norma Stark Memorial Garden and Labyrinth Foundation. The series is coordinated by Main ART-ery with sound provided by Reel JP.
