MIDSTORY TO RELEASE “WITH|STANDING,” AN ADAPTIVE REUSE SERIES AND EXHIBITION, AT PUBLIC EVENT ON OCT. 17

Midstory is pleased to announce the release of a mini-documentary series in conjunction with an interactive installation at the Main branch of the Toledo Lucas County Public Library on October 17, 2025 from 3pm-5pm. The exhibit will remain open for exploration in the library’s gallery space until the end of the year.

Toledo, Ohio (October 7, 2025) — “With|Standing” is a mini-documentary series and exhibition featuring six architectural sites of transformation and adaptive reuse from across the state of Ohio. Through these sites, the project examines how Ohioans are re-imagining the future of the state’s built heritage shaped by the forces of history, industry, migration and more. The exhibition will be open to the public through the end of the year at the Main branch of the Toledo Lucas County Public Library, featuring audio-visual viewing stations, expansive maps and architectural drawings.

The grand opening on October 17th, 2025 from 3pm-5pm at the Main branch of the Toledo Lucas County Public Library will feature a preview screening of select mini-documentaries, an introduction to the exhibit, networking and light refreshments. The event is free and open to the public, but guests are asked to RSVP using this link. Parking is free in the Library’s parking garage off of Adams St.

Released at the cusp of America’s 250th anniversary, “With|Standing” is a celebration of Ohio’s historic buildings and the ways they’ve served Ohioans across generations. Today, these sites of adaptive reuse — ranging from schools to warehouses to factories — showcase not only Ohio’s rich history, but also the creativity of its present and the potential of its future. The public can explore more of the digital series and find information about the event here

“Historic buildings are reminders of our past, but they can also be visions of our future. Ohio has a rich history, and these sites of transformation show us how the past can inform and inspire Ohio’s future,” Ruth Chang, project lead and creative director at Midstory, said.

With|Standing is funded in part by the America 250-Ohio Commission. This project is also supported in part by the Ohio Arts Council, the Arts Commission and the City of Toledo and Lucas County.
