Toledo’s only OT-led playspace marks 1-year anniversary
Local Mom-Owned Playspace Celebrates One Year of Play, Connection, and Community with Parking Lot Party
Toledo, OH | April 25, 2026 — What started as a dream by a local mom and occupational therapist has grown into a welcoming community hub for families across the Toledo area. DOT Playspace will celebrate its one-year anniversary with a community parking lot party on Saturday, April 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 6544 W. Central Ave., Suite A, Toledo, Ohio.
The celebration is open to everyone and will feature a free outdoor parking lot party with food trucks, music, chalk art, bubbles, games, and tabling from local community partners. Families are invited to stop by, celebrate, and connect. Special anniversary sales and promotions will be available during the event.
DOT Playspace will also offer indoor open play for $12 per child for one hour throughout the celebration.
The event marks the official launch of DOT’s Play Passport, a new initiative designed to encourage families to explore and support local play-based businesses. Families will be able to pick up their Play Passports at the event.
Founded by a local mom and occupational therapist, DOT Playspace was created to provide a play-based environment where families feel supported and children are encouraged to grow at their own pace. In its first year, DOT has served over 800 families through open play and special events, and supported more than 40 families through private speech and occupational therapy services.
Community impact has remained central to DOT’s mission. In November, DOT partnered with The Ability Center to host Paws and Play, selling out two sessions and raising over $300 to support their therapy dog program. In January 2025, DOT launched Play It Forward, partnering with eight local businesses to provide free open play to more than 60 children and donating over $450 to Kaitlyn’s Cottage.
“DOT was built from my own experience as a mom and occupational therapist who saw a real need for inclusive, supportive spaces for families,” said Erica, owner of DOT Playspace. “This past year has shown how powerful play and community can be when families come together.”
Media outlets are invited to attend for photo and video opportunities, interviews, and coverage of the community celebration.
