Toledo, Ohio –
Saturday, April 18th is the 19th annual global Record Store Day, and Culture Clash is throwing the best party in town. Record Store Day launched in 2008 as a means to celebrate and promote the distinctive culture and community surrounding thousands of independently owned record stores around the world. This is a day for staff, customers, and artists to come together, celebrate their favorite indie stores, enjoy live music, and pick up a few special releases. Join us at Culture Clash as we host a celebration befitting our home in downtown Toledo, featuring all-day live music, an expanded vendor fair, patio refreshments from The Switchboard, food trucks, and an unparalleled vibe.
When Culture Clash opens at 10am on April 18th, there will be limited quantities of exclusive vinyl titles being released only at independent record stores onRecord Store Day. RSD titles include music from Taylor Swift, Paramore, Charli XCX, Laufey, Olivia Dean, Fall Out Boy, Jeff Buckley, Ethel Cain, The Cure, Caamp, KPop Demon Hunters, Dijon, and The Doors, to name just a few.
Record Store Day will be an all-day celebration featuring performances on the Culture Clash stage, and in the parking lot, by 11 local and regional acts, kicking off at 9:30am in the parking lot for all those who are lined up early. Performing in order of appearance are Sankofa Sounds, Elmhurst, DJ Tar, Devil Dolls, Brad Billmaier Trio, Diet Smiles, High Tolerance, Horselover, The Beetz, and TV Smoke. Food trucks and pop-up vendors will include the Brick House Tattoo Bus, Sweet Nate’s Coffee, Night Owl Diner ‘On the Go’, Falafel King, Bijoux De Terre, Lotus&Lillies Badubu Art, Thistle and Berry, Clearly Weird Tie Dye, Stumbled Upon Vintage, KTCopilot Crafts, Toledo Persists, and several more vintage, art, and handmade goods vendors!
In celebration of 419 Day on the next day (Sunday, 4/19), Culture Clash will host live performances from local hip hop artists Chrispi The Infallible, Bailey, and The Beetz from 1:00-4:00pm. Culture Clash is also partnering with Allied Record Exchange to offer a reciprocal discount: show a 4/18 or 4/19 Allied receipt at Culture Clash, or vice versa, for 20% off all pre-spun music.
In the nearly six years since Culture Clash Records moved downtown to 912 Monroe Street – the 139-year-old building between Michigan & 10th – this stalwart local business has continued to expand not only their inventory of vinyl, CDs, tapes, books, arthouse films, accessories, and more, but also the range of events cohosted in their event space with The Switchboard bar, including listening parties, film screenings, community group meetings, several photoshoots, a music video shoot, memorial celebrations, charity fundraisers, and a handful of secondhand markets, all within the last few years.
