New destination at 12 N. St. Clair will offer pharmacy, dental, behavioral health, a medical clinic, and ice cream parlor
Toledo, OH — April 2026 — A new and distinctive addition is coming to downtown Toledo’s Hensville district. Doc Martin’s Remedy Shoppe and Apothecary, located at 12 N. St. Clair Street, is scheduled to open in late May, offering a one‑of‑a‑kind blend of healthcare services and old‑fashioned charm.
Located in a building constructed in 1880, it will house a full‑service pharmacy, onsite medical and dental clinics, behavioral health services and an ice cream parlor, creating a unique community-focused space that brings together wellness, convenience, and a bit of nostalgia under one roof.
Designed to serve both downtown residents and visitors, Doc Martin’s Remedy Shoppe and Apothecary aim to make healthcare more approachable while encouraging people to linger, connect, and enjoy the Hensville experience.
“We wanted to create a place that supports health while also feeling warm, accessible, and uniquely Toledo,” said Bishop Talmadge Thomas, Chairman of the Neighborhood Health Association Board of Directors. “In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, ice cream parlors often operated within or alongside pharmacies. This unique combination arose because soda fountains, which served ice cream and sodas, were commonly found in drugstores. By combining medical services with something as fun as an ice cream parlor, we’re creating a destination—not just a stop.”
The location places Doc Martin’s at the heart of Hensville, within walking distance of Fifth Third Field, local restaurants, entertainment, and downtown workplaces, making it easily accessible for patients, families, and visitors alike.
More details, including opening-day events and hours of operation, will be announced as the late‑May launch approaches.
