Hepcat Revival Celebrates America's Musical Heritage at Music at the Market

Music at the Market, presented by Laibe Electric, continues Thursday, July 16, with Perrysburg's own Hepcat Revival performing from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on the Commodore Schoolyard Lawn, 140 E. Indiana Avenue in downtown Perrysburg. Guests are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket for the free outdoor concert.

As communities across the country commemorate America 250, Hepcat Revival's music offers a celebration of America's rich musical heritage. Drawing from jump blues, swing, jazz, rhythm and blues, and American standards, the seven-piece band performs the styles that helped shape the nation's musical identity while continuing to connect with today's audiences.

Known for its lively performances, Hepcat Revival has a way of drawing audiences into the music. Whether listeners come to dance, tap a foot, or simply enjoy an evening outdoors, the band's irresistible rhythms, amusing stage presence, and seasoned musicianship have made it a favorite throughout northwest Ohio for more than 25 years.

Led by vocalist Greg Tye, the Perrysburg-based band has spent nearly three decades celebrating the timeless appeal of American music. Trumpeter Vince Krolak credits the band's longevity to the chemistry that comes from years of performing together.

"When an ensemble really locks in, it makes it easier to be more precise in our playing while opening up opportunities to be creative with the groove, harmonies and soloing," Krolak said. "We can respond musically to Greg's vocals, build on each other's solos, and transition back to the melodies. It keeps the music changing, even though we've been playing together for so many years."

That musical interaction has become a hallmark of Hepcat Revival's performances. While the music may sound effortless to the audience, on stage the musicians are constantly listening and responding to one another, allowing each performance to evolve naturally while remaining true to the music.

Joining Greg Tye are Vince Krolak on trumpet, Stan George on saxophone, Ken Zuercher on guitar, Pete Ford on keyboards, Tom Ritter on bass, and Travis Knepper on drums. Their years of performing together, along with experience in other musical projects throughout the region, have helped shape the musical connection that continues to define Hepcat Revival's sound.

Music at the Market is presented by Laibe Electric with support from BluSky Restoration Contractors, Lakeside Interior Contractors, Chick-fil-A Perrysburg, and Visit Perrysburg. The weekly summer concert series is free and open to the public.
