Nusaiba Club Makes Music at the Market Debut
Music at the Market continues its summer concert series on Thursday, August 13, as Nusaiba Club, led by singer-songwriter Nusaiba Rahman, makes its debut from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the Commodore Lawn, 140 E. Indiana Ave. in downtown Perrysburg. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy an evening of live music in historic downtown Perrysburg. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the Perrysburg Farmers Market, downtown shops and restaurants before the concert begins. The concert is located within Perrysburg's DORA district, allowing beverages purchased from participating establishments to be enjoyed on the concert lawn.
Growing up attending the Perrysburg Farmers Market with her family, Rahman says the live music left a lasting impression. That connection makes her Music at the Market debut especially meaningful.
Returning to the Perrysburg area during her Anthony Wayne High School reunion weekend, Rahman will share a blend of familiar favorites and original music with the community where those early memories began.
Rahman began performing at age 12 and continued writing and performing while earning her degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Today she divides her time between Northwest Ohio and Brooklyn, New York where she writes and records original music. Last year she released her debut single, Stranger Things, and plans to release her debut EP this fall.
Performing as Nusaiba Club, Rahman will be joined by veteran area musicians John Barile on drums, Wes Linenkugel on keyboards and her long-time musician friend Jade Long on bass. Together they will perform an upbeat mix of familiar favorites by artists including The Beatles, John Denver, Train, Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo, along with several original songs from her upcoming EP.
"I've been coming to the Perrysburg Farmers Market since I was a little girl. My earliest memories are here. The live music sounded so good, and I remember looking at the musicians and thinking how I wanted to entertain and help create that musical atmosphere one day. It's truly an honor that I get to do this now."
Whether discovering Nusaiba Club for the first time or simply enjoying another summer evening at Music at the Market, audiences can expect an evening of familiar songs, new music and a hometown story coming full circle.
