TOLEDO, Ohio — Dr. Elizabeth Napier, Associate Professor of Marketing and International Business at the University of Toledo, will release her debut book, Centered on Resilience: A Guide for Protecting Energy in a Global World, on October 5, 2026.

Centered on Resilience brings together ideas from Dr. Napier’s background in anthropology, international business, research, teaching, and yoga to explore resilience from both a personal and professional perspective. The book examines how individuals and businesses alike can protect their energy, establish meaningful boundaries, remain connected to others, and navigate uncertainty without losing their sense of purpose or self.

For Napier, writing the book also created an opportunity to move beyond the traditional boundaries of scholarly research.

“I wanted the freedom to bring together disciplines that are often treated separately and write in a way that was both research-informed and deeply human,” Napier said. “Resilience isn’t about becoming harder or shutting ourselves off from the world. It is about understanding what helps us remain centered, connected, and capable of moving forward when life becomes difficult.”

The book explores themes including mindfulness, boundaries, burnout, leadership, sustainability, digital resilience, relationships, global interconnectedness, and the connection between mind, body, and business. Throughout the book, Napier combines research and professional insights with reflective practices designed to make resilience applicable to everyday life.

To celebrate the release, Napier will host a Book Release Celebration on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at The Gather, 3140 Markway Road, Toledo, Ohio 43606.

The afternoon will bring together books, conversation, connection, community, and celebration. Drinks and light bites will be served. Space is limited, and advance RSVPs are encouraged.
